Enjoying the rich cultural programme of reconciliation between the Križevci purgeri and Kalnik plum- growers, ‘Križevačko veliko spravišće’; exploring the folk customs and costumes; tasting delicacies and excellent wines from the hills of Kalnik
Whenever peace is achieved somewhere in the world, it is a great event and cause for celebration. Experience how the citizens (purgeri) of Križevci and noblemen plum-growers of Kalnik finally reconciled. In a sign of the new covenant, the Križevci veliko spravišće (The Great Meeting of Križevci) was held and life in harmony and love and helping each other in the battle against the enemy was agreed. The agreement was confirmed with great ceremony ‘po križevački - bude se jelo, pilo i zabavljalo tri dana i tri noći’ (in the Križevci manner - eating, drinking and having fun for three days and three nights). The ‘purgeri’ will prepare an oxen on the spit, while the Kalnik noblemen will bring barrels with wine from Kalnik. The legend, almost half century old, still lives in this area in križevačko spravišće where the final word belongs to the local judge, the Križevci notary, the Kalnik castellan, ‘fiškuši’ and other persons, all according to the ‘Križevci statutes’. Enjoy the celebration, the beautiful old town and the national costumes, the performances of musicians and actors, old crafts and rich culinary offerings, and become yourself a part of the peace celebration!
Tourist packages range from 1 - 3 days. The activity programme for a 3 day package includes: Day 1: Zagreb - Križevci; Day 2: Križevci; Day 3: Kalnik - Zagreb. Packages are available at the beginning of June, depending on the date of the festival, for groups of between 2 - 40 people. Accommodation is provided in a mountain hut and at 3 and 4 star hotels and apartments. Transport is possible with your own vehicle or provided by us, by bus. Professional guides are available in English, German, and other languages upon request.
