Legends and stories are always interesting and becoming a part of them is an experience that should not be missed. The legend of picoki (roosters) - Picokijada - speaks of courage and the ingenuity of Đurđevac locals, proud of their history, nickname and their rooster. This is certainly the most interesting legend in our history, and can be seen live each year in late June in Đurđevac. Many contents, art exhibitions, book presentations, exhibitions of traditional cakes and a variety of other entertainment, sporting and cultural events will not be lacking. On the traditional Picokijada, the proud locals of Đurđevac celebrate the historic victory over the Turks, and the legend is displayed on the authentic location from which it originates. The show includes hundreds of extras, cultural amateurs, cavaliers and professional actors. Return with us back to those ancient times when the picok saved this town, join us in the celebration of victory and abundance of culinary delights!
Tourist packages range from 1 - 4 days. The activity programme for a 4 day package includes: Day 1: Zagreb - Đurđevac; Days 2 - 3: Đurđevac; Day 4: Sahara of Podravina - Zagreb. Packages are available at the end of June, depending on the date of the festival, for groups of between 2 - 40 people. Accommodation is provided in rural households and at 3 and 4 star hotels. Transport is possible with your own vehicle or provided by us, by bus. Professional guides are available in English, German, and other languages upon request.
